I learned a lot about SD3 preset creation from that.Do you reckon I can get enough Knowledge free from Lukes drum angle sessions combined with the other Free toontrack ones to be able to cope with the “Recreating Legends” course ? It seems a lot better value than the tips and tricks courses and he’s covering a selection of great drummers’ sounds on that course by the look of it. I did buy Luke Oswald's Superior Drummer 3 course on Groove3 called "Recreating the Legends of Drums". I started playing in middle school in the 70's so that's my thing. I have to say that Legends of Rock was the "presets" I was looking for. We have a whole thread going with thousands of posts just for Hammond Organ using VB3 1.4, VB3 II, Blue2, IK B3-X and B5 VSTs. I learned a lot about SD3 preset creation from that.Įarly on with Superior Drummer I was thinking the same thing, where are all the presets? I play keyboards also and if I go on Keyboard Corner or the Cantabile forum and ask what people are using for a song like Van Halen's "Jump" they sometimes send me their preset in OB-Xa, or similar VST. I have to say that Legends of Rock are the "presets" I was looking for. One other issue is if you make a preset using different SDX's (and I know people have created very good ones doing so) then you would have to happen to have all the ones the person used to make their preset. It takes some real drum recording know how to mix and match between SDX's. Experts will disagree but I find it best to stick with the instruments recorded within the same SDX. One thing I've learned is that it's not that easy to program original drum kits in Superior Drummer.
